Strong Start

A free drop-in early learning program for children from 0-5 years old and their parent or caregiver. A qualified licensed early childhood educator will lead activities, including stories, music, and art to help children get ready for success in kindergarten. The program includes arts and crafts, music and movement, circle time (stories and songs), gym time, snack time, puzzles and games and dramatic play. Uloo Khoh

Offers learning opportunities for parents and children in a relaxed, friendly, inclusive environment. Uloo Khoh is a drop-in program that includes playtime, songs and rhymes, information sharing, and a healthy traditional and nutritional lunch for children and their caregivers. Language Fun Story Time

The Library is pleased to offer Language Fun Story Time on Thursday mornings (9:30-10:30) that has been generously sponsored by the Fort St. James Early Childhood Development Committee through the Success by Six grant. YMCA Child Care Centre

The YMCA Child Care Centre offers a preschool program on 5 days a week. Their small group philosphy will allow your child to recieve the individual attention they need as they learn through play exploring the indoors and outdoors, music and movement, sensory, stories, puzzles, blocks, dramtic play and leanring to play with others. Each day children will enjoy circle time and outdoor play. Caring and experienced staff will assure your child is kindergarten ready with the fundamentals they need to be successful.

Recreation Opportunities

En Pointe Dance Studio

Dance classes are available for children as young as 2 years old. The studio has a "fun first" teaching strategy and offers creative dance, ballet, hip hop and jazz classes for all ages. The studio is located in the heart of downtown Fort St. James and class schedules are available on the studio's website.

FSJ Family Taekwondo

The FSJ Family Taekwondo Club provides an opportunity for your little one to gain self-esteem through strengthening their physical and mental powers. The club trains at the Energy Connection Health and Fitness Gym located adjacent to the Government Agent. Children as young as three years old can join the Junior Dragons class. Fort Forum Arena

Open from mid September through mid March, the arena offers excellent ice for hockey, speed skating, Canskate and public skating. Additionally there is a Parent and Tot skate on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30.

Daycare for infants, toddlers, and children between 3 and 5 years old. Your child will be looked after by qualified early childcare providers at a licensed facility. Daily activities at the daycare include outside play time, stories, learning thru play, and quiet time. A healthy lunch and two snacks are provided for your child.
